Exclamation OxyContin: Miracle Medicine For Severe Pain

Known as Oxycotton or Oxycoton on the streets, OxyContin is a very powerful medicine that is used to help those suffering from severe pain caused by cancer, severe arthritis, sickle cell disease, and nerve damage. OxyContin is a morphine derivative, just like a related medicine Percodan. It is a controlled substance that can not be legally purchased at an online pharmacy.

OxyContin is often called a miracle medicine because of its ability to block severe pain that most drugs can not touch. For example, patients that are suffering from the pain caused during the latter stages of prostate cancer can usually live a fairly pain free life with OxyContin, while no other medicine will help them. Of course it's ability to block pain has led to abuse by others, but there is no doubt that OxyContin has helped thousands of severe pain sufferers. "This drug makes it possible for chronic pain patients to live their lives normally. It makes a profound difference in the quality of their lives," says Robert Swerdlow, MD, associate professor of medicine and oncology at the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute at Wayne State University in Detroit.

The active ingredient in OxyContin is oxycodone. Oxycodone is a Schedule II narcotic analgesic and is widely used in clinical medicine. It is marketed either alone as controlled release and immediate release formulations, or in combination with other nonnarcotic analgesics such as aspirin or acetaminophen.

OxyContin may be habit-forming and should be used only by the person it was prescribed for. OxyContin should never be given to another person, especially someone who has a history of drug abuse or addiction. Keep the medication in a secure place where others cannot get to it. Do not drink alcohol while you are taking OxyContin. Dangerous side effects or death can occur when alcohol is combined with a narcotic pain medicine.

In the event of an OxyContin overdose, seek emergency medical attention if you think you have used too much of this medicine. An overdose of OxyContin can be fatal. Overdose symptoms may include extreme drowsiness, muscle weakness, confusion, cold and clammy skin, pinpoint pupils, shallow breathing, slow heart rate, fainting, or coma.

I too feel for you! I have been on Lortab for the last 3 yrs due to a car accident 12 yrs ago. I am only taking 6-9 a day but when I tried to quit or have run out before my refill is ready I know I will have a painfully sleepless night a head of me. I can only imagine with you taking Oxy's how horrible it will be but also pls know you are not alone and we are all behind you in your decision to get help.

Person who are suffering from severe chronic pain can undergo acupuncture treatment, but it will give much more pain than the relief, during the treatment. I suffered a lot during the treatment for my back pain. Finally I found Thoughts Become Reality, where they gave me a hypnotherapy treatment. Now I am completely relieved. Thanks to them I visited them at Thoughts Become Reality - Hypnotherapy and NLP Life Coaching
