The big presidential debate between McCain and Obama is on for tonight (9/26/08). McCain announced 2 days ago that he would not participate in the first presidential debate, but he's changed plans. This Obama McCain debate is highly anticipated indeed. Here are some answers to some common questions being asked about the first president debate:
What time is the debate? The debate will air at 9:00 PM Eastern on all major channels including ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, PBS, CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, and BBC America.
Why did McCain change his mind on attending the presidential debate? McCain had previously said that he would suspend his campaign—and so would not attend the debate—until an agreement was reached on the administration's $700 billion mortgage proposal. Republicans said the standoff was hurting McCain's campaign and that he would look terrible if he didn't attend the nationally televised, eagerly anticipated debate, while Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) was ready to go on stage. McCain's campaign said: "Senator McCain has spent the morning talking to members of the Administration, members of the Senate, and members of the House. He is optimistic that there has been significant progress toward a bipartisan agreement now that there is a framework for all parties to be represented in negotiations, including Representative [Roy] Blunt as a designated negotiator for House Republicans."
Who will win the debate? lol Well, it depends on who you ask. Most of the country already knows who they will be voting for, so their man will be the winner tonight, at least in their eyes. For the truly few that haven't already decided, thw winner of tonight's debate will likely be their choice for president.
